We’ve all heard the saying “new year, new me,” right? Well, I’d say I’m always changing, but as for my blog, the saying rings true this year. You read the title right, I’m breaking up with my blog. But it’s not what it seems, so keep reading.

Whether you clicked a link to get here or typed something into a search engine, you surely noticed the name of this site and were perhaps a bit confused. What was once Thinking With Eden – the things I think about, has now become Outdoors With Eden. I figured now was as good a time as any to do something that I’ve wanted to do for the past several months. If you’ve been around for a bit, you’ll know that I’ve gone through several posts worth of ” I’m changing things up,” and, “I’m going to post more,” but alas that has not been the case. So I’m done with it. I’m still going to write, just shifting the focus. You’re reading the “transitional post” from Thinking to Outdoors With Eden. I’m going to be writing less about me per se, and more about my experiences, thoughts, tips and tricks, etc., relating to the outdoors.

I’ve always been an outdoorsy person, spending my summers on Lake Superior (and more now since my camp on the lake has become my home…). A lot of what I used to write about often involved the outdoors in some way, so really, my content won’t be changing THAT much, just the name.

On another note, part of the reason of why all the changes are coming now is because of school. I’m taking an online writing class that is specific to writing for digital and social media. The course actually requires that we create a blog with a specific topic in mind and post to it, as well as engage with others throughout the duration of the course. Being that I already have a blog, I talked with my professor and decided now would be a good opportunity to turn this blog into something that I really want to identify with. So for the next couple of months, I’ll be posting a fair bit as a part of my assignments, then after that, as the snow melts and I’m spending more time outdoors, I shouldn’t have a hard time keeping up with regular posting.

You might have also noticed a new section in the top header titled Morning Cup. I thought of the idea for that section a few months ago but never really introduced it. I want that page to be a spot to post just a small blurb whenever I get the chance about whatever I’m thinking about and feel might be a good “coffee thought” at that moment. I feel like your stereotypical morning coffee is a time when you sit back for a minute, think about the day ahead, but also just relax with your thoughts. So that page won’t feature full-sized blog posts, but just short snippets of my thoughts before my day starts, or when I feel like what’s on my mind at that moment is shareworthy. In a sense, it’s a way of keeping the Thinking With Eden vibes alive. Still working out the details of posting things to just that page, so nothing yet.

Okay, last but not least, a couple of technical things. I bought the domain outdoorswitheden.ca, so using that will now get you to my page. However, because I can’t let go of things, I still own thinkingwitheden.ca, so using either of those will bring you here to this site. On The Archives page, you can find all of my old posts in an organized month-by-month list. Anything written before 2025 is from my Thinking With Eden era, so those posts might not exactly fit the current outlook, but I didn’t want to delete that chapter of me. I also switched up the appearance of the site, so I had to rework each page to fit the new theme (I don’t wanna talk about this; WordPress doesn’t make it easy). That being said, there are still some fixes and changes to make, so it may not look perfect right now, but nothing ever does anyway.

I think that covers all that I wanted to say, and I hope you’ll continue to read about the outdoors through my lens. Thanks for reading!
