Okay yes, before you remind me, this post is much later than promised. If you didn’t already know, things are a bit hectic with schools in Ontario right now, which will only add to my post today. I’ll say it right now, my Christmas was limited this year because I got COVID. The dreaded cold treated like a plague.

Don’t get me wrong, Covid is not fun and you can’t predict how it will affect you. I experienced mild headaches while my whole family had a mediocre cold, and yet others I know came down with a serious flu. It really affects everyone differently. I got Covid when my brother came home for Christmas, as he thinks he picked it up on the journey home. A rapid test the night he came home was negative, but two days later a different one was positive. The rest of my family tested negative the same night, but the more accurate once’s said otherwise the next day. Click here for some more detail about how those tests work.

All lined up on December 21st. Can you spot the odd one out?

We still made the most of our Christmas, filled with baking, movies, and trying our best to get along. I also got busy with some yarn and made a few pairs of slippers. We made a trip out to camp for a change in scenery, but other than that, ten days of being together was enough.

Definitely a new go to for gifts.

Once our whole Covid fiasco was over, we made up for missed celebrations with friends and family at camp and in town.

A nice dip in the ice covered lake… Not everyone’s idea of fun.
Ice covered shore two weeks later.

I also got the news that school would not be going in right after the break, and we’d be learning from the comfort of our homes for the next two weeks, but I was beyond ready to go back to reality. However, with schools closed came a pause on sports. I was lucky enough to get into a privately owned gym for the time being to keep up my strength.

It’s safe to say everyone is tired of lockdowns and restrictions, and everyone is eager to get back to a “normal” life, but until then we’ll keep listening and hoping for the best. I hope everyone has a great week and try’s something new! Thanks for reading!
