Hey everyone I’m going out of town this weekend so I figured I would try to get out a post before I leave. I want to bring some attention or insight as to what’s been happening in British Columbia the past couple of weeks. It’s a serious thing that’s affecting a large part of the environment in many ways, and is setting organizations like A+G Reforestation back in a lot of their progress. I feel this is important for me to talk about as protecting the environment is something I do worry we won’t be successful at, and a setback like this calls for attention and action.

So what’s happening? I’m the last couple weeks there’s been some extreme record breaking heat that has been a main contributor to wildfires, a more talked about on being referred to as the Lytton Wildfire. Why should I be concerned? This Lytton wildfire completely wiped out the Village of Lytton (CBCNews). And while this might not affect you directly, it’s affecting thousands and is leaving others with fear that a disaster like this could effect them. A wildfire also means that the trees are affected, and with dozens of wildfires burning in close proximity of each other, trees in these areas don’t stand much chance.

These fires concern me and really make me feel for the people who live in affected areas, or find comfort in the nature within the wildfire’s paths. If you look at the picture above, you’ll see a picture from a hike I went on last weekend. I would hate for one of my favourite hiking trails to be completely wiped out by extreme heat and other factors. While there are many conspiracies as to how the fire started, heat escalated the issue.

So Eden why are you writing this other than to inform? Well you see, there are many organizations, especially in B.C. for that matter, that are working to plant hundreds of new trees everyday. With these fires, their progress has been set back significantly. Trees don’t only look pretty, they also do a lot for us and provide something to pretty much every living thing on the planet, and are our main source of oxygen (we need that to breath, don’t forget). Some of these organizations include A+G Reforestation , Working Forests, and Celtic Reforestation. These are companies based along the west coast, but there are hundreds throughout North America. I’m giving you these companies so that you can read up on their mission, donate to their efforts if you can, and if you’re unable to donate, sharing the links or this post helps to spread the word.

If you read this post, I hope you find the time to look at some other article to really understand what’s happening, and share or donate to help keep our Earth healthy and beautiful for us to share with nature and other wildlife! Thanks for reading!
