Sometimes I feel like life is moving really fast, yet really slow at the same time. Living through a pandemic, doing online school, I often feel like I’m living the same day over and over again. And then by the time the weekend comes or I’m doing something that’s different from what I usually do, I’m really able to take in the things that I miss throughout the week. Things that I never notice when I’m not paying attention to them. I literally mean the teeniest tiniest things.
For example, whenever I get outside and go for a walk where I have my phone in my bag or something like that, I really notice everything around me. I was biking at camp on the weekend and the sun lit up one part of the road in a way that made it look like something you would find in a movie or story book. I of course did take a picture, but even looking at that picture now I still say “Wow, that’s really really pretty”. The same goes for when I walked into my backyard and saw how calm the water on the pond was and how the light bounced right off of it.

Seeing these little “movie” or “story book” scenes in my own life give me a sense of happiness and almost bring me back in time. To what time? I do not know. I just think of a simpler time, like bike rides to the ice cream store in the summer when things were a bit more normal and less complicated. I’m not sure about you, but seeing these little things make me smile and the make me realize that maybe taking a break sometimes is good not just for your physical health, but also for your mind. Find sometime this week to go outside if you can and appreciate something that you see pretty much everyday, but never take the time to really think about. You might find that it makes you happy or brings up a good memory that’s stored away in your head.

Just a shorter post today, but something that can make a difference if you take some time to look at the world around you. I find it crazy to think about all of the things that surround us (especially in nature) that have been a part of our everyday lives for as long as we can remember, but once were not there. Think with me again sometime and give me your email through the subscription box on the homepage. Don’t worry, you won’t get spammed with emails. You’ll only be notified when I post. That’s all for now!
