I’ve thought about this a bit, but this post is more or less going to be an excuse for me to document the cupcakes I made the other day. But it is a real question. Why do people take joy in doing something that can potentially flop and leave you with a big mess? Like usual, we’re going to go think about it.

My number one answer for this would be simple. People enjoy baking because we get something delicious in return. Well, usually something delicious. That being said, there are certain things I would rather put my time into baking than others. Cookies that I know are going to turn out rock solid because I will forget to put them on a cooling rack? No I think I’ll make a cake instead with a thick chocolate ganache. One reason I like baking desserts is because I get to decorate them and be creative with it. Let’s go deeper on that and make some cupcakes with me!

I started with just a simple box cake mix because it works great and I did not have the time to make them from scratch.

The cake mix is just from my grocery store.

I poured that into a big mixing bowl and got to cracking my eggs and breaking the yolks.

I always crack my eggs into a separate bowl incase of shells. My mom taught me to do this!

Then I poured them into my bowl with the cake mix.

After adding my eggs, I added my milk and butter. The recipe calls for vegetable oil but I find I get a better texture with melted butter!

I then mixed everything together with this fancy tool my mom claims is one hundred years old and will never break.

My mom says these are impossible to find unless you find a vintage one online.
When it was ready, I added the batter to my cupcake tins
Done! I added water to the empty tins so that I didn’t ruin the pan.
I prepped my icing to add to my piping bag.

I put my icing into my piping bag so that it would come out in a cool design. I usually put the bag in a tall glass to fill it so that it stays steady! I piped that onto my cupcakes and added some chocolate shavings!

Cupcakes done! I put these in the freezer for a bit to keep the icing nice.

I’ll also include some cupcakes that I made a few weeks ago.

These ones took much longer to make than expected.

As I’m sure you can see by now and some of my previous posts, I love being creative with my food! Cupcakes especially. Once I have a vision in my head, it’s going into that cupcake in some way or another.

So by now I think I’ve answered my question about why people enjoy baking. For me the answer is because I can be creative, show other people my creations, and of course, end up with something that tastes SO GOOD!
